Chicago's CTA buses offer passengers a relatively clean, relatively convenient way to get around the city and to outlying areas. Bus schedules are available by calling the CTA or by visiting their Web site. You can provide your start and end points and someone will provide the fastest route between them. The ride is fairly cheap - just $1.50, or $1.80 (allowing for two transfers on either buses or the El) - but be prepared to allow for extra time during morning and evening rush-hour traffic when the city streets are extra congested. Routes and the numbered buses that frequent a stop are listed clearly on signs along the streets.
